Kuang Si Waterfalls, Laos
Luang Prabang's Best Attribute
Probably the first thing you see on pinterest and instagram pictures when you search for Loas, these waterfalls will absolutely be the highlight of your trip in Luang Prabang. The pictures speak for themselves.
Getting to Kuang Si
From your accommodation there should be a little tour service that most of them offer. From Sunrise Hostel (Highly recommend), there was a shuttle bus to the falls and back for 40 000 kip (around $6.5 AUD). The entry fee is 20 000kip and it’s around a 45 min bumpy ride from the city centre.
Make sure to wear swimming bathers because the sweaty walk up will leave you desperate to jump in the refreshingly cool crystal blue water. Just FYI, there are fish that nibble at your feet, especially if you have open wounds, but they’re harmless, just a bit weird!
Once you walk through the entry gates you’ll find an awesome surprise, bears!!!
Yes that’s right, you read correctly, bears. There is a rescue centre for black bears just before the waterfalls, so that was a great bonus to see!
As you walk up the path, the waterfall areas just keep getting better and better and the photo opportunities are to die for. You can swim wherever you please, except for the closed off sections. Just enjoy the revitalising blue water and even sit right under mother nature’s natural shower.
There is also a cafe up the top with Loatian dishes and smoothies, with a stunning view of the falls below.
