A Day at an Elephant Sanctuary
We were looking to see some elephants in Chiang Rai, Thailand but know that there are so many places that operate solely for financial gain and do not care for the wellbeing of the animals.
But we were lucky to find a perfect elephant sanctuary that cared for the beautiful creatures. You can only see them from 15 meters away and cannot touch them.
Of course, you can take photography but without the flash and you can feed them bananas at the end of the tour. With the price of the ticket, you also get to enjoy a great complimentary Thai lunch.
If you want to meet new people, this is a great way to do so. The manager is a funny English man, and the staff speaks fluent English.
The sanctuary is just outside the city, just around 15 min, and the Taxi is included when you book a ticket online.
The half-day program will cost you 1,600 THB (around $50). It isn't cheap, but 100% of your money to the care and sanctuary of the elephants, so it's worth it and you can feel as if you are doing something right.
