Chelsea in Bloom
The largest flower festival in London
Like every year before the arrival of summer, Chelsea in Bloom is taking place, a floral art show that takes place on the streets of the Chealsea area (Sloane Square, King's Road, Pavillon Road and Duke of York Square) in the South West of London.
Between May 20 and 25 more than 90 shop windows have reinvented themselves by showing eccentric statues made of flowers on the theme Under the Sea, an explosion of colors that seeks to sensitize the population to protect the oceans. This year the theme is also given by the fact that the partner of the event is the Plastic Oceans UK charity.
The event is getting bigger every year and more and more shops, restaurants and hotels decide to take part in the festival by adorning their displays with floral decorations of all kinds and competing for the prize.
Yes, the festival hides a competition, in fact the activities that decide to adorn their windows giving their own free interpretation of the annual theme will be judged by a panel of experts and the winner will be announced on Friday, May 24th, on the official website.
The event is free.
The festival is really pleasant, walking through the streets of the area you come across almost by accident leaving the passers-by pleasantly surprised and ready to take a picture of these many masterpieces.
