From Val Gardena to the Braies’ Lake
One of the most breathtaking place
I've always been fascinated by mountain villages, and I recently discovered a little town at about 1500m above sea level, and few km from Bolzano. It’s a small town of about 2500 inhabitants which, in the high seasons, becomes the perfect tourist destination for those who want to ski in winter, and go trekking in summer.
I’m talking about Selva di Val Gardena and it’s a very pretty mountain town where the strong Austrian influence is still perceived.
Everyone still speaks German and it seems like you're in Austria rather than in Italy.
It’s not so usual to see snow there in May, but last week we were so surprised to see the town entirely covered by snow. Everything was white.
Near Selva del Gardena, there are a lot of beautiful towns to visit and stay in and they all have the magic of the mountain.
A few km ahead, Between the Alps, you can find one of the most breathtaking places I’ve ever been. It’s the Braies’ lake.
It is completely surrounded by the Alps, and this makes it extremely beautiful. The water’s color is emerald green, and it reflects the mountains, creating a stunning light effect.
If you want to admire the lake up close, you will find a small boat rental which is becoming the most researched attraction of the place. Perfect for creating stunning photos.
There’s a big forest surrounding the lake and also a long path where you can practice trekking. Don’t forget to wear the right clothing or you'll end up being covered in mud!
In conclusion, this place should be marked on your list of places to see at least once in a lifetime!
