Roaming Around the Impressive Kirkjufell
Kirkjufell is one of those just incredible rock formations that when you see it you just wonder how was this even formed. It is a perfectly shaped rock, which is wide at the bottom then gets narrower as you go up. Kirkjufell is located in the Snaefellsness peninsula. After visiting the black church in Budir it is a 20-30 minute drive up to Kirkjufell. Once you reach Kirkjufell the parking will be on your right. Park your car there and take the trek up to the waterfall and snap some iconic photos of the waterfall and the Kirkjufell Mountain next to it. What you have to remember is that the reflection photos you see are dependent on the tide. When we were there unfortunately it was low tide so there was not enough water but if you wait until around 2-3am during the summer months you’ll have high tide so if you have a campervan or a hotel near by I would definitely recommend returning at that time. The actual reflection spot is right next to the waterfall. I’d highly recommend putting Kirkjufell on your itinerary, as it’s an absolutely majestic mountain. The north is less touristic than the south.
