Grand Hotel National Lucerne
Luxury in the Heart of Lucerne
I used to wonder what Switzerland looked like. A magical place with perfect green fields, picturesque lakes, and mountains covered in snow… and yes, it is exactly like that and more.
Just an hour away by train from Zurich, you will reach Lucerne. Located at the spectacular Lake Lucerne, this town is incredibly gorgeous. I loved strolling through the old part of town with its cute little streets, seeing all the beautiful traditional Swiss houses and the locals that gather at lunchtime by the water to enjoy the sights while they eat.
With luxury on my mind, I wanted to do Switzerland as it should be done: in style. This is why, as a home base, I chose the Grand Hotel National,
Staying at the Grand Hotel National Lucerne, was no less than perfect. This majestic 5-star luxury hotel can easily be seen from the distance, rising above the lake and occupying a whole street. Located right at the water and in easy walking distance to all the highlights Lucerne has to offer.
I stayed in one of the Junior Suites, which was decorated in a very tasteful and classical style, with golden hues, marble floors, and my own lake-view terrace. Everything about this suite embodied luxury and comfort, with two beautiful windows opening to the most breathtaking views.
My favorite part about the whole experience at this hotel was waking up and looking outside at the perfect blue waters of Lake Lucerne, swans swimming around with all the white covered mountains in the background - a true awe moment! Almost too good to be true, like a perfect painting. Already missing those mornings, enjoying a delicious breakfast at the balcony while taking in those views was the perfect way to start a day.
The amenities at the Grand Hotel National Lucerne are simply amazing. The hotel has several high-quality restaurants, I enjoyed a wonderful meal at Restaurant National that made me fall in love with Swiss cuisine and their wine. They also have a spa, where you can enjoy relaxing treatments while looking over the lake and an indoor pool.
I absolutely recommend a visit to this beautiful Swiss town while staying at the Grand National. You will certainly have an unforgettable time!
