Dining at Hotel Illa d'Or

The most romantic evening in Spain

I am the type of traveler that loves eating at hole in the wall places and small local restaurants and cafes. I believe its the only way to get the true taste of the countries and cultures cuisines. However every trip I take I reserve one night to go out for a fancy dinner. This night in Spain landed on the eve of Alex's 30th birthday. Woohoo!! So we went to the absolute best spot in Pollensa.

One of the first hotels built in Port de Pollença, Hotel Illa d’Or stands elegantly on the waterfront commanding superb views across the bay. While we didnt stay at the hotel we enjoyed the fine dining at the water’s edge restaurant, La Terrassa.

For dinner with your toes practically in the sea, it’s hard to beat La Terrassa, an open air deck at the water’s edge offering more elaborate, fine dining options and interesting flavour combinations (the poached egg, burrata and artichoke salad with truffle was outstanding).

This place is very glamourous with crisp white linens and waiters in suit and ties. I reserved Alex's favorite table (he told me which LOL) which is table four! The one that sits perfectly at the waters edge with the best view of it all. We felt like royalty and it was such a romantic evening. If you are traveleing with a significant other than this place is unbelievable. It may sound cheesy but it's impossible not to feel all gooey and in love at this place. Well the two bottles of wine also may of helped with that lol
