Shiki Sushi

Finding the good sushi

Gyozas

Shiki is located in the fast-growing neighborhood of Poble Nou, in the North East part of the city.

Shiki serves traditional Japanese food and sushi. Here, you can eat different types of sushi rolls, sashimi, yakisoba (a wonderful dish of edamame), and mochi ice cream for dessert. Everything is priced very fairly, too.

The place is a little hidden on the street. It’s small and cozy with just a few tables and a great Asian vibe. And if you don’t want to sit in a table you can eat at the counter in front of the Itamae (sushi chef).

I tried four of their dishes. The typical Gyozas filled with meat and vegetables. This is one of my favorite dishes of Asian cuisine - it's simple, well balanced and almost every culture made its own version. It can be filled with almost anything and then fried, steamed, or grilled.

Edamame Edamame

Next, a simple Edamame: steamed soybeans with sea salt (remember, less is more). Afterward, I had two different types of sushi rolls: first, a classic one made to perfection with salmon and avocado, this combination could never go wrong. And to finish, some California uramaki, because you can never get enough avocado! No dessert for me this time, I was stuffed.

Nowadays, you can eat sushi almost everywhere, which makes it really difficult to find a truly good sushi restaurant. Luckily for us, we still have places like Shiki to fulfill our craving for good sushi!
