A Walk In Maria Luisa Park - Seville
Considered as the greatest green treasure of Seville, Maria Luisa Park is the perfect place to have a relaxing walk after visiting Plaza España. The Infanta Maria Luisa donated it to the city with the goal of creating a public large green space in the middle of the city. Now sevillian people and tourist can enjoy a some fresh air and a place with a lower temperature in the middle of the city. And sometimes it's a huge relief, because in summer we almost have 50 degrees!
Nowadays the park has had some changes from the time it was created (it was a centerpiece of the EXPO 1929). They added a lot of new species of trees, ceramic vessels and also great fountains, covered with the traditional sevillian tiles.
Walking in the Park is a pleasant journey to discover palms, orange trees, Mediterranean pines and much more. There's also a lot of bird species as a result of the varied and large vegetation!
In the last bit of the park we have a few pavilions from the EXPO of 1929 that now are being used as museums and offices.
After checking all the park around, you will end up in a really special place every sevillian has taken a photo at, The Pigeon square. As its name implies this square is always full of pigeons flying and playing around with the water of the fountains. There are two small stands in which you can buy food and feed them with different kinds of nuts. But be careful because they are really confident and you will be covered of hungry pigeons!
