Wes Anderson Cafe in Milan
Our Review By Hero Traveler @StephLong
Bar Luce is the go-to off the beaten track place to visit in Milan!
I’m about to say something that quite literally astounds everyone when I tell them, but last June was my first EVER time to Italy, and I had the pleasure to say that my first city I visited was Milan. I always thought it would be Venice or Rome, but we decided to think a little outside of the box. Plus… we wanted to shop so Milan seemed like the best decision.
I went with my best friend Sophia so it was a proper girls trip consisting of wine, aperol spritzes, shopping… and more shopping. It is such a beautiful city and we were super lucky to have the most amazing hot weather. As there are so many stories to tell for this trip this will be one of many; we went to so many amazing bars, cafes, gelato parlours, quaint Italian boutiques, and found some beautiful streets to take some off the beaten track photos.
I want to share with you one of my bar suggestions, it was very out of the box and wasn’t within the centre of Milan, actually it was quite a trek to the point where my friend actually said ‘Steph where are you taking me!?’ But I knew that where we were heading was more than worth it, and the powers of instagram is what lead me there.
So the bar is called Bar Luce, the decor is designed by film director Wes Anderson, as you can imagine it is quirky yet slick, full of geometric shapes, soft pastel colours and feels like a typical Milanese Cafe. As Wes Anderson said himself, it would make a perfect movie set, or a place to sit and write a movie.
I can’t stress enough how wonderful this space is, and what's even better is they serve a whole array of wonderful cakes (so insta worthy), coffees, teas, and most importantly (for us) they serve the most incredible Espresso Martini.
P.s if you love your fashion, the Milan venue of Fondazione Prada is right next door, so be sure to swing by there afterwards.
