A Walk through Mordor
Tongariro National Park
Located smack bang in the middle of the North Island of New Zealand, Tongariro National Park is the most popular day hikes in New Zealand, not to mention it is also known for being the location of Mordor from the critically aclaimed Oscar winner film series The Lord Of The Rings.
A excellent 6-8 hour hike clocked at 19.4km the experience of its beautiful views and a landscape to die for. With rocks and gravel to bog climbs and volcanic atmosphere that makes you fee like you are on Mars or some other planet, to a lovey rainforest to finish with it was the best day that i have experienced as a massive hiking fan and massive Lord Of The Rings fan in which i spent 11 hours to complete due to filming, taking photos and all round just taking my time and enjoying the day not to mention the hot conditions.
On your journey you will stumble upon a volcano which was used in the film as Mount Doom and has been dubbed active yet is safe to be around as it it constantly monitored and is formally known as Mount Ngauruhoe. You also will experience the glamorous emerald lakes this is where you take your instagram photos as it truly is a sight to see.
The entire experience as well as the workout is worth every moment and is a must see and do when in New Zealand so if you are a hiking fan, a Lord Of The Rings fan or just interested in views and nature this is the activity to do. I myself have done this hike twice snd already planning on going a third time as it was one of the best days for someone that is into hiking and nature and a Lord Of The Rings fan. I feel a real connection to this place and a sort of love.
