Hike around Tseuzier lake

The Valais - Switzerland

Switzerland and in particular The Valais is knowns for its beautiful mountain lakes and hikes. As you should know Switzlerand has a hike for everyone.

The Lac de Tseuzier is an artificial reservoir formed by the Rawyl dam who was built from 1953 to 1957. It's an idyllic trail framed by pastures, forest, beautiful mountain peak and some waterfall Alpine. At far, The Restaurant du barrage de Zeuzier and the friendly gite offers hikers a perfect place total a rest and to enjoy the sunny terrace with view.

The hike start by the dam and leads anti-clockwise around the lake. At the far end of the lake, the trail passes the start of the Bisse de Sion. It's a historical irrigation channel built from 1901 to 1903 to carry water all the way to the river La Sionne which flows througt the capital of Valais. Our lake trail continues along the western shore of the lake, partly following the bisse which eventually leaves the valley via a sequence of tunnels and sections cut into the rock.

Note for families with young children: It's not recommended to use a buggy because of a total clim of about 140 vertical meters and of the tight and steep area. However, the second half of the loop ( which start from the left of the dam) is flatter, so families with buggy can easily enjoy a walk.
