Where to Stay in Monument Valley
The Most Scenic Campground in the World
After a wild adventure hiking Buckskin Gulch, we were in desperate need of a few days to recover. We booked a campsite for couple of nights at The View Campground in Monument Valley.
As soon as we rolled into the carpark, we were blown away by the views. During our 2 night stay, from sunrise to sunset, to night skies full of stars, we enjoyed some of the most beautiful views we've ever seen, from right outside our tent.
It's the most relaxing sunrise experience ever. We just unzipped our tent door, set up a chair, and watched as the horizon transformed before us.
Most people only stay for 1 night. We highly reccommend to stay for 2. Once you check in and set up your tent, most of the day has already gone. After the sun has risen, it's already time to set down and leave. Having a full day to relax, explore and enjoy an extra sunset and sunrise was well worth it for us.
Downsides
- The campground is located ontop of a hill, so it can get windy. It's safe to say our tent still has plenty of orange sand inside from the windy nights.
- We couldn't find signal anywhere in or around Monument Valley. When you check in they'll give you access to The View Hotel wifi, but it only works within the Hotel. It was a good way to switch off and enjoy the park though!
- You have to pay a $20 park entrance fee (no matter what) ontop of your camping fees.
