Pinchos on Calle Laurel
Spanish food you must try!
When you think of Spanish food, Spanish ham or paella probably first comes to mind. However have you heard of pinchos? They’re basically the tapas of the North. The best place to find good pinchos is Logroño, Spain.
The place to be in the small but vibrant city of Logroño is Calle Laurel. In fact, this little stretch of bars and restaurants is packed with people on any given Friday or Saturday night.
Calle Laurel has a good 10-20 spots where you can try small plates of food. If you’re with me, I’d first take you over to Juan y Pinchame for a fried shrimp and pineapple skewer. Every time I grab some pinchos on Calle Laurel, I have to get one! Then we would head over to the Pulpería. Here, you can find octopus cooked in many different ways.
Then as you make your way up the street, you’ll pass a place where you can get a pincho with mushrooms. Since I’m not a big mushroom fan, I typically skip over that spot and head to Tío Agus instead. This is probably the most filling pincho of them all! Make sure you order the agus, which is basically a pork sandwich topped with this amazing secret sauce.
A night out on Calle Laurel is perfect for the budget traveler. Each pincho only costs a few euros, so you can go from place to place trying a little bit of everything!.
