Southern Ridges Trail, Singapore

For many, Singapore conjures up the image of a densely packed metropolitan city; high rise buildings, snazzy condos and the Marina Bay Sands sail framing the sky line. The Southern Ridges trail, an easy walk on the outskirts of the city, offers a complete escape from this. You’ll find spectacular view points, fantastic scenery and total peace and tranquility. What are you waiting for?
The route is 10km long, though you can join at one of several numerous start points if you fancy a shorter walk. If you’re up for the whole challenge, start from Pasir Panjang MRT station and walk up Pepys Road to connect with the beginning of the main route through lush woodlands complete with ‘watch out for the monkeys’ signage!
The most striking landmark along the trail is the Henderson Waves, a distinctive pedestrian bridge some 36 metres above the road. It offers a truly amazing vantage point to look out across the city. There are large, art-installation benches if your feet are sore and you want to stop and enjoy the view.
The treetop canopy walk is also a stunning oasis surrounded by dreamy flora and fauna. It’s an incredibly varied walk as you move through parks, ridges and elevated pathways. The reward at the end is an incredible panoramic view over the city, harbour and Southern Islands where you can ring a gong then reward yourself with a drink in the bar!
