There is an old legend telling the story of the Irish giant, Fionn mac Cumhaill, who built a causeway made by rocks, so he could reach to Scotland to fight his enemy, the Scottish giant Benandonner, who challenged him.
The way the story ends it is not very clear yet; some versions tell that Fionn Mac Cumhaill won, some other say the exact opposite.
The legends tells that the path built by Fionn mac Cumhaill was somehow destroyed, but part of it is still lying there, in its astonishing beauty.
This is what today they call the Giant’s Causeway , which can be considered one the greatest natural wonder in UK!

The Giant’s Causeway is a marvelous coastal area made of basalt columns of volcanic origins, located in County Antrim, Northern coast of Northern Ireland.
It looks like an art of work made by humans: each stone has a perfect esagonale shape, as it was the finest result of an architect’s plan.
Many people won’t believe that, but its creation is due just to Mother Nature.
The scenery is just breathtaking: the darkness of the rocks clash with the deep blue color of the weaves, creating a striking visual contrast.
What a wonderful location for pictures!
You can feel to be in a magical place, dominated by the rules of Nature, still untouched and uncontaminated.

In 1986 it was declared World Heritage Site by Unesco and today it is considered one of the main tourist attraction in Northern Ireland.
Entering the area is free of charge, but if you get access through the Visitor Center there is a fee applied.
So if you are visiting Belfast, you can’t miss it for anything in the world, since it is less than 100 km away.
How to get there?
You have two options: you can rent a car and drive or you can join one of the tours by bus from Belfast or from Dublin, which normally cost around 25-60 pound per person.
On the way to the Giant’s Causeway you might want to do few interesting stops. Swing by the Carrick-a-rede rope bridge, another popular tourist attraction in County Antrim and taste the most famous Irish whiskey at the Bushmills Old Distillery.
If you are a Game of Thrones' fan, you can’t certainly skip one important stop: the Ballintoy Harbour, still located in County Antrim, just next to the Carrick-a-rede rope bridge. This gorgeous site was chosen to shoot some scenes of the second season of Game of Throne.
Northern Ireland is undoubtedly a place of fabulous wild nature and stunning scenarios, which will make you fall in love for ever.
