The best 5 beaches in Palma De Mallorca

All the island of Palma De Mallorca offers incredible beaches that satisfy all the tastes of the thousands of tourists who choose Palma every year as destination of their holidays.

Surely the beaches of Palma are equipped and always attentive to the latest trends that demanding tourists looking for fun land in the summer. These offer entertainment both day and night thanks to restaurants, bars, water sports facilities and parties by the beautiful sea.

So today I want to discover the most beautiful beaches on the island with you.

1. Es Trenc

Playa d’Es Trenc is one of the most famous beaches in Mallorca. Es Trenc beach near Campos, on the south coast of Mallorca, is part of the Es Trenc-Salobrar de Campos special interest natural area. Es Trenc It is a very long flat sandy beach (about 4 km) and not too wide, suitable for all tastes, in particular for those looking for a quiet and relaxed beach. The Es Trenc beach in its length alternates free areas and no buildings (most of them), nudist areas and areas equipped with umbrellas / deckchairs and beach bars. The water is normally calm, the bottom goes down very gradually making it also suitable for children. Keep in mind that the beach of Es Trenc is completely in the sun all day, so if you don't rent sunbeds (which cost 18 euros in a certain area where I went with an umbrella!) Bring your own umbrella during the hot hours or sunburn they will be a guarantee. The ideal in my opinion is to spend half a day or a full day with a parasol and a packed lunch, so you have time to take walks up and down the area (to see the glimpses I show you soon!) Without wasting time to return to the nearest neighborhood to eat or pluck in one of the expensive beach restaurants towards Colonia Sant Jordi. Also noteworthy are some very nice chiringuitos (small bars) in the easternmost area of Es Trenc near the mouth of the small river and the orange parking lot, which turn on the music for aperitif time, it's worth it. of Es Trenc varies a little depending on the day. In the pictures of Es Trenc that are on the internet, they always present you with crystal clear water that was not even the Caribbean.

The fastest way to reach it is definitely the car.

2. Playa De Los Moro

Arrived at a large free car park where you can leave the car to access the cove only via a path. The path is about 20 minutes and has some dangerous points to go, so it is advisable to bring few things and absolutely no access to strollers is recommended. The cove is small and not very accessible but despite this it is always very very crowded because it is enchanting. A small unpretentious paradise, here you will not find bars or restaurants but only a few vendors selling drinks. We recommend a visit early in the morning so that you can enjoy the place more without space problems.

3. Cala Formentor

The Playa de Formentor is one of the most enchanting places ever in the north of Mallorca, which is part of the peninsula of the same name, and one of the best beaches on the island along with the nearby Playa de Es Trenc.

The Capo de Formentor is the peninsula that forms the northernmost point of the island, delimiting the Baden de Pollenca and bathing towards Minorca. It is an extension of the Sierra de Tramuntana which extends for about 3 kilometers, between mountains, unspoiled nature and spectacular steep descents towards inlets and marvelous coves, crossed by different trekking routes, such as the Camì de Vels. The latter ends at the Cap de Formentor, the northernmost point where the lighthouse of Formentor stands: it is here that you can admire what for me is the most beautiful sunset in Mallorca and, with a little luck, sighting in the outline of the younger sister of Majorca: the island of Menorca.

The peculiarity of this beach is that it is a nice compromise for those who want to spend a day in the uncontaminated nature of Formentor, without giving up the services and comforts: along the beach there is a bar and a restaurant and can be rented canoes, pedal boats and small boats, as well as sunbeds and umbrellas. I, who personally am more of a "towel on the ground" type, have never used these services. However, being a service offered by the nearby hotel, it is not very cheap. My advice, if you are looking for some shade, is to take advantage of the trees that surround the beach, some of which are very close to the shore. The beach is also perfect for children, being largely sandy, unlike the other coves of Formentor, equally wonderful, but covered in pebbles and rocks. In addition, during the summer season it is supervised by lifeguards: please note, however, that the bay is well protected from the wind and the water is always calm as a table! A curiosity: right near the beach is the famous Hotel Formentor, one of the most luxurious on the island, in which, it is said, many VIPs and celebrities from the likes of Winston Churchill and Charlie Chaplin stayed. Yes, if it were not clear, the English love Cala Formentor.

On this Blue Flag beach, you will find free showers and toilets. Pedal boats can be hired for € 15 per hour and water bikes. On the beach the security service is offered during the summer, from May to October, every day from 10.30 to 18.30. There are two restaurants on the beach: The Espigo Beach Bar, cheaper, where you can eat sandwiches, burgers, pizzas and salads. The other is La Varanda, with a very pretty terrace and slightly higher prices. This is a real restaurant, where you can also taste some Mallorcan dishes. Given the location, however, prices are generally higher than average.

4. Torrent De Pareis

This is one of the most spectacular beaches of Mallorca and the Sierra de Tramuntana. Very different from the long beaches like Es Trenc or Cala Formentor, Sa Calobra is actually formed by two beaches, the main of which is the Torrent de Pareis.

It is a sort of fjord, a canyon, a narrow cove between two 200 meter high rock spurs. It is born at the mouth of the stream. A truly unique beach, one of the most photographed and visited in Mallorca. To get to Torrent de Pareis you will have to go through a tunnel dug into the rock, at the end of which you will see this spectacle of nature that is a National Monument since 2003!

Here, every year, on the first Sunday of July, the Torrente de Pareis concert takes place: a show that uses the acoustics of this place, a sort of natural auditorium with the sea in the background. If you happen to be in Mallorca at this time, it's worth seeing!

Sa Calobra is formed by two beaches, both free and not equipped, covered with pebbles and rocks. The most visited beach, Torrent de Pareis, is totally devoid of services and access is not simple and suitable for everyone. On the other beach, instead, what the locals call Cala Sa Calora, there are bathrooms, showers and, a few meters from the paid parking, you will also find a bar-restaurant.

About parking: with a little luck, if you arrive early, you'll also find some free parking. Ah, it's almost useless to say: especially in high season, you have to arrive early to enjoy the beauty of this place. Being a very narrow beach, it is crowded very easily and when it happens it is difficult even to reach the sea.

The road to get to Sa Calobra by car is a sight: a series of hairpin bends in the middle of the rock that descend for 16 kilometers, making a drop of almost 800 meters. Almost at Lake Gorg Blau, leave the Ma-10 and take the Ma-2141 towards Sa Calobra (quiet, the road is well signposted)!

5. Cala Mesquida

Cala Mesquida is one of the most beautiful bays in the northeast of Mallorca and is particularly popular with young families. Local hotels are within walking distance, but the beach does not seem to overhang. A restaurant and a small beach bar offer snacks and drinks. You can relax on large sun loungers or on sun loungers under straw umbrellas. If you like hiking, you will be happy with the marked trails that start from Cala Mesquida. You can also rent pedal boats on the beach or take a guided tour on horseback.
