Mount Kalatungan Range
Rest thy knee, enjoy the view
I ventured into a major climb that turned out to be a major achievement in my mountaineering life. The photo above was taken on the second day of our ascent and I would say that it was the best stop we’ve had. Although it’s too foggy in that shot, we were given a good clearance few moments after that. Thus, we were to able to enjoy a great view while taking a simple breakfast .
Stomach is happy, now off to the peak! As the sun is going straight ahead when looking up, the scorching heat added motivation for us to reach the rest area to hide under the shade and take our lunch.
Then we reach the said area and took some rest before advancing to the top while leaving our belongings since we’re not staying up there.
So there we go, it took about an hour even without some weight behind our back but of course, we managed to arrive and be on the 5th highest peak in my country — Philippines.
Then we returned to the junction area for lunch and headed to the bamboo area where we are to spend the remaining time of the day to regain our strength for the 3rd day’s journey to the next peak before the struggle of our lower limbs in going back home.
And the real challenge happened. What was it? It was fighting the lowering temperature of the place as the next day approaches. It was never easy especially to my fellow climbers who were not able to properly prepare for this kind of condition. Thank God, I brought a couple of cotton shirts and layered it just to surpass this. And so I did.
The 3rd day will be on the next post. Greetings!
