Pregaming and Partying With Nas

When we touched down to Melbourne I immediately ran to see my best friend in the world, Kate, who lives there. After a long hug and a few tears she proceeded to tell me she couldn't stay long because she had to go.

Me: Go???! Go where??

Kate: To see Nas and Lauryn Hill at Sidney Myer Music Bowl! I got these tickets months ago they cost me a fortune!

So I jumped online, found last minute lawn tickets for $50 (the same tickets she got for $200 haha) and BOOM within an hour of our hellos I was on my way with her to see two musical legends. But no concert is complete without a proper pregame sessions so we stopped at a bar right around the corner called Riverland.

Riverland Bar is the original waterfront icon in Melbourne set in an urban beer garden setting. This iconic venue is situated on the banks of the Yarra River in the historic Federation Wharf vaults, just below Federation Square and a stone’s throw from Flinders Station.

After a cheeky drink (or three) we walked across to the entrance of the Sidney Myer Music Bowl. The venue is MASSIVE and was built for ulitmate sound. Architect Barry Patten designed the Bowl which took one year to complete. It was designed with assistance from the CSIRO, particularly in ensuring the roof - as well as being visually striking - worked acoustically to amplify the sound up the hill. Most seats are in the lawn (not so much seats just lawn so bring a blanket) so they needed to make sure the sound would carry up efficiently and powerfully.

Nas was the first to perform and a crowd of 10,000 people rapped along to every single word! I'm a bit ashamed to say I didnt know a single one :/ There was a short break and then everyone lost there minds as Lauryn Hill flawlesly came on stage (an hour late as per usual) and launched into her iconic single Doo-Woop. People were going OFF and it was an amazing experience as the sun set over the bowl and I stood surrounded by my mates in one of my favorite cities in the world.
