Hideout Bali - A Bamboo Paradise
Bali, Indonesia // 2019
If you have ever wanted to visit a unique accommodation, it is no secret that the Island of the Gods, Bali, has a plethora of options for you. This being said, however, the options aren’t always guaranteed as these gems have been growing immensely in popularity and are often fully booked for several months in advance! I would like to believe that this is much because of platforms like Instagram, where getting a shot similar to your favorite photographer is of the essence for your visit – and when thousands of people have this ambition, it often means you’ll be waiting for a long time to go there!
One of the places I am on about, which I am convinced was most likely the trendsetter in this creative architectural space, is Hideout Bali. I have been lucky enough to visit this incredible place twice, once last year and once just last week! It all started with the original accommodation, namely; Hideout. It started as a sole unit, with an incredible aesthetic design, nestled in the jungle terrain of north Bali – with the entire structure made of Bamboo except for a few glass windows and metal fixtures.
This place quickly gained popularity over the course of the first few weeks of its launch – and the rest is history. Now there are 5 units on the Hideout property, each beautifully unique in its own spectacular way, all sharing the commonality of being a masterpiece style bamboo structure. The two units I have been lucky to stay in are in my opinion the most impressive of all the buildings – they are called Hideout Beehive and Hideout Horizon – quite simply, they are immaculate!
I’m not going to get into how ridiculous they are because words can’t describe the design, all I can say is try your best to plan a long time in advance when going to Bali so that you can book a night at one of the hideout properties (on Airbnb or find them on Instagram) to really experience the feeling there! One of the biggest mistakes I see people making when coming to Bali, is only seeing Seminyak and Kuta and maybe a few days in Ubud – but to experience the true nature and beauty of Bali, you need to get away from the hustle and bustle.
One thing I will say though, is that waking up here has been straight out of a dream both times I have stayed. I think I would say mostly so in the Horizon unit, as it is entirely outdoors. You sleep in a beautiful round bed, with only mosquito nets and a curtain of sorts separating you from the outdoor nature! Waking up here and and being able to see out through the mosquito net, hearing the animals and the river near by, is absolutely amazing! Of course there is a big net hovering above the heated pool that you can access directly from the bed, to really take in all the nature after waking up!
So where is it? Hideout is located in the Karangasem Area, just past Sideman when coming from the southern half of the island. The nature up here is next to no other, and you will feel a lot more calm as soon as you arrive in this area because of how serene it is. Once you’re up here, the most important thing is to enjoy the peace and quiet and of course make the most of being up north!
If you are comfortable driving a scooter, its definitely the best way to get up there. If you haven’t got one rented but want to use it during your stay, Hideout provide a scooter for each property so they’ve got you covered! I can highly recommend driving around the area and heading toward “Pura Lempuyang” on google maps for an incredible scenic drive!
Check the photo below to see the location of Hideout so you can see where it is compared to Kuta and Denpasar on the map!
That’s it for now friends! Happy adventuring to you all and I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know if you have any questions!
