Our Villa in Marrakech
A luxury villa to fall in love with
As my first trip to Africa it is safe to say it didn’t disappoint. I had always wanted to visit Marrakech as I was hugely intrigued by their rich culture and I couldn't wait to try the traditional Moroccan cuisine, especially their lamb tagine! But aside from that, I was keen to explore the depths of the city and mix amongst the locals to really get a feel of the place in its rawest, real form. In terms of our accommodation i never thought we'd find somewhere as picturesque as we did, at such a reasonable price.
I went with a group of girls for my friends hen do (bachelorette party) and we managed to experience a lot in the four days we were there. We stayed about a 20 min drive away from the airport in a golf resort, through a company called Villanovo .The villa was absolutely stunning and was huge, it was one of those jaw dropping moments when we walked in. It’s great for a large group of people, with the option of having a in house chef, waiter, cleaner and chauffeur so you can really put your feet up. As soon as we arrived we were greated by the owner and, to our delight were offered a glass of Moroccan white wine prosecco to welcome us.
The garden was quiet, peaceful and well maintained, with loads of comfy loungers, a large pool which could be heated on request, a dining area and to our excitement a banana tree - as you can imagine there were so many photo opportunities! We also had the company of some tortoises, who weren’t shy in coming to say hello! On our first afternoon we all sat around the pool and decided to swap wine for traditional Moroccan tea, which we all fell in love with, we learnt from our waiter that to make an optimal cup of tea you need to raise the teapot up really high, to create as many bubbles as you can. I'd now like to think we've perfected it!
By night the villa took on a whole new life, with every corner of it filled with spotlights illuminating it in the most elegant way. It was magical and we couldn't think of anywhere we'd have rather been to celebrate our friends wedding.
I’ll be sharing some more stories from my Marrakech trip, so watch this space. From places we went to eat and drink, to the highlights of our explorations around the Souk Medina. If you’ve been yourself share with me some of your favourite places you’ve eaten, visited or any memorable moment while you were there :)
