Where to Have Coffee in Calgary

Our Favourite Coffee Shops and Photography Spots

1. Phil & Sebastian Coffee Roasters | 102 8 Ave SW

"It’s not so much a business as it is the single-minded pursuit of a better cup of coffee. For the past decade we’ve spent most of our waking hours dedicated to the notion that coffee can and should be better than it is." - Phil & Sebastian

Boasting a very unique and creative interior, plus having Hoopla Donuts alongside, Phil & Sebastian Coffee Roasters on 1012 8 Ave SW is a must if you're exploring Calgary. Don't get me wrong, they serve up some pretty great coffee, but the donuts...now they're really, really good, we wanted to order seconds!

This location is also filled with live plant displays, and their collab with Market Collective showcases goods from local artists all along the back wall. It has outlets at each table and was clearly a go-to for people getting work done, whether glued to their laptops or for an afternoon meeting. We spent a whole morning there, topping up the parking meter as well as our coffees!

You can also step up your own home coffee brewing game with their online brew guides.

What We Had | Latte x2 and Creme Brûlée & London Fog Donuts

2. Monogram Coffee | 420 2 Street Southwest

"We are Monogram Coffee - a national award-winning team with over 20 years of experience in sourcing, roasting and serving coffee." - Monogram Coffee

And they have the trophies out to prove it! We loved the bustling space at 420 2 Street Southwest, surrounded by Calgary's highrises. It's a nice escape from the busy streets, with a very spacious, bright and modern interior. The coffee, of course, lives up to the hype and the baristas were very happy to chat about the latest beans on offer. They have really cool benches if you're going with friends or a number of stools at the bar where you can watch the coffee mastery in action. The bar also had a number of outlets, if you're looking for a good spot to work.

P.S. We also picked up a bag of freshly roasted beans on our way out and if you're into making your own coffee at home, Monogram has some of the best you'll find in Calgary.

What We Had | Cappuccino

A Few Places to Take Photos Between Coffees:

1. Peace Bridge

Peace Bridge, Calgary, AB, Canada (Memorial Dr NW)

One of the best views you'll find of the Calgary skyline, set behind the very unique design of the Peace Bridge, named to commemorate 100 years of peace between the United States and Canada.

2. Calgary Tower

101 9 Ave SW, Calgary, AB T2P 1J9, Canada

There are plenty of great angles of the Calgary Tower all around the city. You just have to go and explore to discover your favourite! This shot was taken next to our car, just around the corner from Phil & Sebastian Coffee Roasters on 102 8 Ave SW.

3. Public Library

800 3 St SE, Calgary, AB T2G 0E7, Canada

I've never seen an interior quite like this, let alone inside a library! From the inside out, this place is stunning and mindblowing. Whether you're into books or not, it's worth exploring and taking photos of the many angles in and around this beautiful building.
