The magic of Andromeda Theater
Underneath the stars of Sicily
In Sicily, there is a magical hidden place that not many people know about. If you are lucky enough to see it, you’ll get to have a very unique and special experience.
Andromeda Theater is located in Santo Stefano Quisquina, near Agrigento, situated at an altitude of 1,000 mt.
It’s a theater made of stones, built in the middle of pristine valleys, by the artist and shepherd Lorenzo Reina at the beginning of the ‘90s.
The design of the structure is inspired by the Andromeda constellation: the 108 stones, used as seats, recreate the same position of the stars in the sky.
This beautiful work of art represents the deep connection between the sky and the earth, the unknown and human beings.
The theater doesn’t have any electricity or artificial lighting; everything has been designed to blend in with nature. At the back of the big circular stage, stands a breathtaking view, very suggestive during sunset.
The theater organizes shows, concerts and art exhibits.
On particular days of the year, there are different events that attract dozens of visitors, like the summer solstice, for example, celebrated as a rite.
Around the actual structure of the theater, there are numerous sculptures and artistic installations as well. Some recall classical mythology - such as the "The dying Icarus" who fell to the ground, donated by the artist Giuseppe Agnello.
The whole place is an artistic path, an open space work of art, a fine tribute to nature and humankind.
Go visit Andromeda theater and you will dive into an enchanting atmosphere, permeated by the connection between man and nature.
You can visit the theater from 10 am to 7.30 pm, any day of the year. You will need to book your tickets through the official FB page; the price of the ticket is 10euro.
