Room For One: Marina Bay Sands

Marina Bay Sands Hotel, Singapore

“Are you checking in two people?”

"Actually, there is only one checking in for the night."

I never felt so free after saying those words. Singapore was my first international solo trip and stay at a 5-star hotel.

Afternoon Swim

When I was planning my trip to Singapore, I thought I had to stay at the world iconic, Marina Bay Sands. It is something that I have been dreaming about for years ever since I saw a documentary on Netflix about this couple who goes behind the scenes and stays at world-famous hotels.

I went to Singapore during my Chinese New Year school break which was at the end of January. I booked my hotel on the Marina Bay Sands website. You are able to find the prices for each room. The prices are different according to the view, the size of the room, and dates. Prices are going to be more when you book on a weekend.

I stayed at the MBS on a Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Check in time is at 4 pm, but you can call ahead to see if your room is available. They can keep your luggage too for 24 hours AFTER checkout which was convenient!

Side note: The sunrise comes up from the Gardens by the Bay side of the hotel. The infinity pool is facing the opposite side.

I stayed in the Deluxe Room facing the Gardens by the Bay. I chose this option because, not only it was the cheapest for just myself, but I wanted to see the supertrees light up at night.

The Deluxe Room will be the cheapest. If you want the skyline view, it will be more.

When I checked into my room, I immediately put on my swimsuit and headed up to the top floor!

On the top floor, there is LAVO, CÉ LA VI, and SPAGO. There is also the observation deck. If you are a guest, it is free to enter the observation deck with no charge. You can go to the observation deck even if you are not a guest at the MBS for a price. Go to the observation deck at night! It is incredible to see the buildings reflect from the water!

Good morning! Good morning!

The Marina Bay Sands encourages a $200 deposit when you check in for alcohol, liquor or food that gets charged to your hotel, but you can opt out. When you opt out, you can just swipe your credit card each time you order something, which I ended up doing.

I did not think I was going to spend $200 on just myself so I opted out and I wanted to track what I spending. I probably should have put down the $200 deposit when I checked in because it does add up and I ended up spending the $200 from breakfast, lunch, snacks, and drinks! (lesson learned)

Did you know that this is the largest rooftop infinity pool in the world?

The pool is open from 6 am to 11 pm. In order to get access to the pool, you MUST be a hotel guest. The pool is NOT open to the public due to privacy for the hotel guests. Marina Bay Sands is one of the most famous hotels in the worlds, let alone a popular hotel in Singapore. It is the symbol of Singapore. There are many celebrities, influencers that come to the Marina Bay Sands. During my stay, I, unfortunately, did not see anyone with a familiar face. However, if you go, you might!

In your room, you will have a white robe. It is encouraged you wear it to the pool area, although you don’t have to. There is full service in the pool area.

When you are lounging at the pool, there are servers that come and bring you drinks and food. They were very attentive and prompt for their service.

Bring your room key with you to access the restroom. You have to leave the pool area and use your room key to exit to go to the restroom.

The lounge chairs are for adults. During mid-day, it gets crowded so hurry and get yourself a spot!

Make sure you take a night swim. The view and contrast of the green water from the lights is out of this world!

For those who are vegetarian, like me, there are vegetarian options for poolside food, breakfast and at many places.

I ordered on the poolside menu. I had the vegetarian sushi roll for lunch and the vegetarian bento box for breakfast.

I ate dinner at SPAGO BAR & LOUNGE which is on the 57th floor, Sands Sky Park. I ordered the Falafel Burger, which is vegetarian and came with fries. They also have a vegan salad there too!

Down below there is also, Spectra - light show, that displays in front of the MBS!

Drinks range $26 SG dollar to $45 SG which wasn’t as much as I thought considering I saw these prices at another bar I went to earlier that week. There are also restaurants and bars you can go to when you stay there as a guest or non-guest.

You do not have to be a guest to go to LAVO, CÉ LA VI or SPAGO BAR & LOUNGE, the restaurants that are in the Marina Bay Sands. Go to CÉ LA VI and see the skyline at night!

My favorite part of my stay My favorite part of my stay

In my opinion, The Marina Bay Sands lives up to the hype. I mean, look at the view of the pool at night! You just have to see for yourself. It was an incredible experience I will never forget. As I write this, it brings back so many memories of my stay in Singapore and I can’t wait to go back! Maybe, I will stay here at the Marina Bay Sands again!
