The French Cheers
Okay, so everyone may not know my name. In fact, only one bartender, Mathieu, knew my name. But when you move somewhere new, you have to find your coffee shop. Bar Tourangeau was mine.
Prices are on the low side of average for French cafes. The fact that it's a couple streets away from Place Plumereau, the famous medieval square, helps.
My go-to in the mornings was a cafe creme, while the afternoon called for "un cafe," or "un double" if it was a bad day.
Bar Tourangeau also serves alcoholic drinks, as well as teas and other beverages. What it doesn't sell is food. You can bring in your own food - there's a microwave to heat up leftovers - or you can purchase a treat from the boulangerie across the street, Hardouin.
It being France, of course, they don't care how long you stay there and no one ever pressures you to purchase another drink. But you'll want to.
