Amalfi Coast Gems II: Path of the Gods
Walking between sea and sky
Probably the most famous hike in all the region, the Path of the Gods is a beautiful a simple hike
that shows all the amazing beautifulness of the Amalfi Coast.
When we arrived in Bomerano, we followed the signs for the Path of the Gods, accompanied by a
the warm sun and far sounds of cowbells and goats bleating.
We passed near some shepherd's houses and small cultivations, and after going through a narrow passage,
we saw all the amazing coastline of the Amalfi Coast, at 500mt high from the sea.
From there we could clearly see the city of Positano, the Mount that stands on top of the city, Mount
Comune and all the way past the very end of the coastline, Punta Campanella, and even the Isle of Capri with its peculiar
stacks.
From there on, we were in the very nice village of Nocelle with the astounding view always there, making for the best backdrop for that day.
Once in Nocelle, we stopped at a little bar for a fresh lemon granita on the bar balcony, relaxing and contemplating the wonder of nature.
After resting maybe too much, we saluted the nice barkeepers and got back on the same path, that, in
the afternoon at sunset, gave a totally different feel. The air got thinner, the sun went down, whitewashing the sky and the mountains with orange and
pink tints, and then with deep blue colors. Around us were no sounds but the far waves.
The magic of the sunset was happening and we were lucky to be witnesses of that natural enchantment. We walked back to our car slowly as possible to make the most of our final moments.
