A Guide To Dreamy Positano!
Positano is one of those places you will without a doubt, see daily on Instagram, and the pictures always look so dreamy as the town is just one big painting! It has been on my travel list for such a long time, so I was super excited to visit finally!
Arriving at Naples airport it will take you nearly 1.5 hours to reach Positano by car, although it’s just 59 Km away. The second half of the drive is very scenic, taking you along the Amalfi Drive. Although not cheap, I think taking a taxi or transfer is the best choice because the parking is extremely limited in Positano.
After visiting other towns in the Amalfi Coast, I headed here for 3-nights which is perfect and enough time to explore Positano and all of its highlights. I did everything by foot, and besides many stairways that you will have to climb to get almost anywhere, I would consider the city to be very walkable.
The biggest plus here to me is the Mediterranean Sea. The water is simply spectacular. Very calm and the temperature perfect. On my first day, I rented beach loungers at the Spiaggia Grande, which is around 25 euros a person in high season. Doesn’t come cheap but I had a wonderful time. You can easily spend the whole day here as the beach club serves delicious food and drinks.
If you don’t want to pay there is a free public part of the beach where you can go too, which is what I did for the other days.
For a perfect end to your day, In the early evening take a sunset cruise with boat companies such as Bluestar Positano, and see this and other villages along the Amalfi Coast from the water side. If you want the perfect photo from the water, catching Positano in the background, then this is the way to go!
Use another day to walk around town, stopping at some of the boutique stores selling beautiful clothes and gourmet delicacies. One lunch spot that I highly recommend is Chez Black. It’s located down at the waterside of Positano.
At night this place looks even more beautiful when all the lights go up, and this is the perfect time for a visit to the famous Le Sirenuse Hotel, which shouldn’t be missed. Either head to their bar for the best cocktails and the most amazing sunset view in town or have dinner in their award-winning restaurant. I went to Franco’s Bar and had a wonderful time!
If you haven’t visited Positano and the Amalfi Coast yet, add it to your list because it truly is a magical place that will remain with you even long after you’re gone.
