Cocktailing from Rooftop to Rooftop
Athens, Greece
During my second visit to Athens, I decided to enjoy more of the city's vibe and atmosphere instead of visiting the typical tourist attractions (except for the Acropolis that it's always a must-see and I can’t help but going there every time I visit Athens). We stayed at the Coco-Mat Athens, a boutique hotel located in the heart of Kolonaki. Kolonaki is perhaps the city's most exclusive neighborhood and is away from the touristy locations and boasts a real flavor of local life.
The small and intimate rooftop at Coco-Mat Athens has a great view over the city but if you prefer to have a cocktail with good music and some pre-party vibes you can't miss 'A for Athens' rooftop overlooking not just the Acropolis but also the buzzy Monastiraki Square and Plaka (great for sunset views!). They have a spectacular menu of cocktails with mythological names (don’t miss Circe’s Potion).
However, if you're looking for Athen's highest viewpoint you should go to Lykabettus Hill (there's a cable car that takes you right to the top) and treat yourself to a cocktail at one of the best panoramic terraces in Greece: Orizontes Restaurant. We enjoyed a perfect sunset from their elegant terrace and we loved it so much that we decided to stay for dinner. Even though their prices were a little higher than other rooftop restaurants. The chic ambiance and the view were absolutely worth it, and their feta cheese in crust with tahini is to die for, believe me!
