Newlands Spring Market
Cape Town, South Africa
If you are in Cape Town, you’ll be spending most of your time in town or on the Atlantic Sea board, not giving much attention to the city’s southern suburbs.
But, if you are tired of visiting all these touristy places the city has to offer and want to have a more intimate local experience, I suggest paying a visit to this newish market in Newlands, called the Newlands Spring Market.
The market is set in a picturesque setting between the Newlands brewery and the Newlands stadium with Table Mountain in its backdrop, providing you with a relaxing setting to unwind on a Saturday morning.
To compliment the beautiful scene there are a lot of exciting brands, artisans and purveyors to add to your experience. There is a large sitting area in the center of the market, surrounded with all the stalls.
Even though it’s not a very big market, but you can easily tend to the needs of your growling stomach or just tantalize your taste buds with something sweet. And if you are feeling particularly adventurous half way through the day, the market has a bar for you.
The market also offers a nice platform for aspiring musicians to come and perform live for the market dwellers.
Apart from food stalls you can also find some local jewelry, toys, and some cool plant hangers.
Recently, they also set up a Dog adoption stall at the market and trust me when you look at these cute little creatures, it becomes really hard to resist taking one home with you.
All the parents who might have hyperactive toddlers, don’t have to worry about chasing their young ones around, because they have a jumping castle and a dodge ball arena to burn off all the energy.
Overall, it’s an excellent place to let some steam off and enjoy the weather, before going wild on a Saturday night.
