Caravan Airbnb

Torquay, VIC

All alone in the woods

During our trip we stayed with our family who lives in Torquay, However for my birthday (which is Valentines day) my boyfriend decided to book a private airbnb so we could have some one on one time. I was very relieved to hear this and I'm sure no one is a stranger to spending 'too' much time with the fam if you know what I mean.

Well for those who don't know me I am a spa and manicure kind of gal. My boyfriend also knows this very well. So you can imagine my shock when he walks me into the woods. At first I thought he might of gotten a really nice cabin. Romantic right? I was wrong.

In front of me I witness my worst nightmare... A CARAVAN. There isn't an emoji to depict my reaction.

"We're SLEEPING in THAT????!" I could of cried!

But after alot of urging he finally convinced me to give it a chance. Alex is an adventurer and I simply am not, especially not in the form of a mint green tin cans on wheels.

However I actually had an incredible time! I truly think travelling is about pushing beyond your comfort zones and I'm happy Alex made me push out of mine (maybe a bit too far!) but nonetheless I was grateful. This is never something I would of arranged myself and now I can say it is something I did.

He had prepacked food and wine and built a small fire, we sat in the woods listening to the crickets chirp and watching the stars. The caravan was parked right on the edge of the beach and the waves crashing in at night were better than any whale noise playlist.

The Caravan was more than a local hotel, priced at $100 a night but we were told that it was because it is so vintage and therefore actually really valuable. Hey Aussies take their caravans seriously I guess.

Moral of the story don't be afraid to think, go and sleep...outside of the box. Or in one.
