Wonderful, trippy and relaxing
The Sea Organs and The Greeting to the Sun
The Sea Organ (Croatian: Morske orgulje) located in the west part of Zadar's waterfront is an interesting and original blend of architecture and music. The world’s first musical pipe organs that is played by the sea. Unlike ordinary organs, the sound of these organs comes under the influence of sea energy, waves and tides.
Many tourists come to listen to this unique aerophone, relax, read a book and enjoy unforgettable sunsets with a view of nearby islands. Famed director Alfred Hitchcock said that the most beautiful sunset in the world can be seen from precisely this spot on the Zadar quay. If you wish you can swim from the steps off the promenade while listening to the sounds.
Right next to the Sea Organ there is another great art installation, The Greeting to the Sun (Croatian: Pozdrav Suncu). Monument consists of 300 solar-driven panels in the shape of a circle 22 metres in diameter which produce a colourful light show from sunset to sunrise. The Greeting to the Sun is meant to symbolise the solar system, with all of the planets, which are present in forms of smaller circular panels and together with the Sea Organs, our connection with nature - sound and light.
Bring some snacks and enjoy the view with the perfect mix of design, music, nature and art.
