Notre Dame de Paris
As a child who loved Disney movies, I was amazed by the idea of visiting Notre Dame while being in Paris.
We visited Notre Dame on our second day in Paris. The place is always crowded and the line for getting inside was huge, but this gives you the opportunity to get awesome pictures from the outside
Its name means "Our Lady of Paris" and it is a medieval Catholic cathedral on the Île de la Cité in the 4th arrondissement of Paris. The cathedral is consecrated to the Virgin Mary and considered to be one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture.
The cathedral's construction began in 1160.
The cathedral is one of the most widely recognized symbols of the city of Paris and the French nation. Approximately 12 million people visit Notre-Dame annually, making it the one of the most visited monuments in Paris.
The exteriors of the cathedrals and other Gothic churches were also decorated with sculptures. These included the famous gargoyles (as seen in Disney movies), the chimera, a mythical hybrid creature which usually had the body of a lion and the head of a goat, and the Strix or stryge, a creature resembling an owl or bat, which was said to eat human flesh.
