Riviera Nayarit
Punta Mita and La Cruz de Huanacaxtle.
Punta Mita is the place to go if you want to see the whales in the sea. This time, unfortunately, luck was not with us and we didn't see any whales jumping. It was still worth going along for the ride, though, I always like being out on the ocean. There is a hidden beach at the Marietas Islands that you can go to, nearby to Punta Mita.
Maybe next year we can see the whales jumping over the sea. Beautiful ride.
La Cruz de Huanacaxtle is a small town in the bay area of La Riviera Nayarit. It's near Puerto Vallarta (about 25 km away), which is one of the biggest tourist destinations on the Pacific coast of México. The name of the town comes from a cross made of Huanacaxtle wood located at the town's entrance.
This town is a great place to walk and enjoy the view, take pictures, and, of course, eat. If you want to go swimming, however, I'd recommend that you go to one of the nearby beaches to best enjoy the majestic sea.
On Sundays, there is a little market with hand made art on the "malecón" (esplanade). It's just beside the local sea market and is a nice place to see and buy some local merchandise. Sometimes, musicians will take to the street and you will see the travelers start to dance!
La Cruz de Huanacaxtle is a great place to visit, and I hope you have a good time if you ever get the chance to go. I would definitely recommend it!
