Day to Day in London, pt.1

Day one

A church in North London

I had never been to London before, even though I had been to England itself before. I had been wanting to go there for quite a while so I was reluctant when we finally got there. So first of all, we went to London by car. We had already booked a place to stay. We dropped our luggage at the hotel and we prepared our bicycles, which we had taken along with us. We had already made somewhat of a plan, as we were on a tight schedule and visiting London was only a part of our road trip.

We first cycled to north London. Not too far north, just above the Thames, at around the height of the Big Ben. It was a big bummer though to see it was undergoing a renovation process (until 2021 I believe), but still, we weren’t only in the city for that as there were lots of other famous landmarks yet to visit. Near the London Eye there were lots of street artists, overall I must say I noticed London had quite a lot of street artists in comparison with Amsterdam, where I live. Which is a good thing as I love street artists.

We then cycled on, heading a bit farther north, where we discovered this lovely little church (see below), typical old fashioned London houses and where we visited the Kensington Palace. We went on, on our ‘palace hunt’ by visiting the Buckingham Palace. We ended our evening by walking by the wonderful Piccadilly square, which offers a great time at night regarding clubs and overall atmosphere. Just before heading back inside I took a few moments to capture the Big Ben at night. Even though it was under construction.
