Art Afternoon Tea at The Rosewood

Looking for a unique afternoon tea in London that goes a step beyond your traditional scones and jam? The Art Afternoon Tea at the beautiful Rosewood Hotel is a splurge at 60 GBP per person, but I think it was worth it. The Rosewood Hotel is an absolutely stunning hotel, located on Holborn in central London, steps away from Covent Garden. The regal façade of the hotel really sticks out, and each room is beautifully decorated. The Art Afternoon Tea is a specialty at the Rosewood Hotel.

The tea changes seasonally to take inspiration from a new artist, and this influence takes form in artfully prepared sandwiches and pastries. When I went, the tea was Van Gogh themed, so we had treats with a Dutch flavor.

The tea is served in courses, with sandwiches, scones, sweet treats, and finally, stunning pastries. The pastries I had were themed after some of Van Gogh’s most famous works. For example, there was one pastry named after his “Sunflowers” painting, and it was a olive oil chocolate mousse with a citrus filling, enrobed in a green glaze and topped with a sunflower. Currently, the tea pays tribute to British artist Antony Gormley, and the menu features Gormley inspired pastries like “Morphology of One Apple.” The service was great, just as you’d expect at a luxury afternoon tea experience.
