Two Days In Prague

Exploring one of Europe's beer capitals

You should definitely visit one of the beer capitals of Europe. We visit the capital of Czechia for a weekend - here are some tips on getting around.

Day 1: drop your stuff at your hotel (we stay at the Michelangelo Grand Hotel) and explore the area around one of the city’s coolest attractions: the constantly moving, metallic statue which was made in honor of Prague's renowned author, Franz Kafka. From here, it’s only a small walk to the Old Town Square.

Day 1, part 2: Time for your first beer? Then head to Lokál! From there on, you can head to the Post Museum and take a bridge over the Vltava River. That will take you directly to the Letna Beer Gardens, where you can keep on boozing till the sun goes down.

When you get hungry, though, head to the Prague 7 neighborhood, north from the beer gardens, and either get a hotdog at Mr Hotdog or check out The Farm or Kavarna Liberal. Then: call it a day. Or: go to the 'U Bukanýra houseboat music bar’ to drink even more beers.

Day 2: Travel to Letenská pláň, the park which connects with the Letna Beer Gardens, and continue on foot, through the park, to the St. Vitus Cathedral and the touristy highlights of every Prague trip: a visit to both the impressive Prague Castle and the famous Charles Bridge. If you have time, also check out the confusing but interesting Kafka Museum.

Day 2, part 2: If you have crossed the Charles Bridge and it’s already beer o’clock, you can turn right on the Smetanovo nábř and check out the Prague Beer Museum. If you’re still hungover from the night before or you don’t want to go to such a touristy beer trap, take a taxi to Kino Pilotů, a hip movie theater situated out of the city center.

In this neighborhood, buy sweets at Kavárna Šlágr, shop stuff for your house at BOHO Vintage Concept Store and have drinks at the Café V lese or Café Sladkovský. That would be the end of your weekend, as you should leave and catch your plane or train ride home.
