Behold The Mighty Skogafoss

Skogafoss has to be the most impressive and powerful waterfall that I have ever seen. The sheer power and millions of gallons flowing down from it still blows my mind every time I think about it. Not only is the waterfall so impressive but also it’s surrounding is also really beautiful. You can either walk straight to the waterfall and stand right next to it to feel its sheer power (remember to wear a rain coat) or you can trek all the way up to the top of the waterfall and see it from above. On the left hand side of the waterfall is a lovely little lake/river that makes for some really incredible pictures with the waterfall in frame. I would recommend staying over night if you do rent a campervan, which you definitely should; there is no better way to travel Iceland. If you do stay the night and it is a clear sky you’ll be rewarded with a beautiful sunset and cotton candy clouds, which are right over the waterfall. Spend as much time as you want at this impressive waterfall as we found it pretty hard to leave and just kept staring at it. If you are after some iconic shots then wait until after midnight in the summer that is when there will hardly be any people around or ever better yet 3-4am for sunrise when most people are sleeping
