Cornwall - Bedruthan Steps



The Bedruthan Steps are a passage of steps that allows people to get from the cliffs down to the beach, which shares its presence with rocks formed over hundreds, if not thousands, of years. The name Bedruthan Steps comes from a 19th-century fairytale of a creature that used the rocks from the coastline and stacked them up and get over the cliffs

As you arrive at the Bedruthan Steps you are able to walk along the coastline above the cliffs. Looking down onto the beach can be quite a scary experience as it is at least a 40-meter drop. The coastal walk is one of the most beautiful as you can see as far as the eye can see in all directions. The waves, which are constantly hitting onto the rocks and also the waves rolling into the shore provides you with a really relaxing experience. We sat at the edge of a cliff and just watched the waves roll into the shore for hours and hours. For anyone who loves landscape and the coast this area is a must-visit place. You’ll have to be very be careful once you reach the steps, as some of them have eroded and the surface is really slippery. The walk up (and down) the steps is not very strenuous, and when you reach the beach you are rewarded with incredible beauty.

We explored the beach for several hours. There are two beaches separated by the rock formations, each just as beautiful as the other. There’s also a cove right next to the steps, although we did not enter it. In the summer, the beach at Bedruthan would be the perfect place to spend the day as there is plenty of shade.
