Woopi For Woolgoolga, NSW
A Little Town That Soon Feels Like Home
The little town of Woolgoolga, situated in the north coast of the New South Wales, is also known as “Woopi”. This cute gem of a town is been our home for about two months during our road trip in Australia. Located only 30 km from the bigger Coffs Harbour, Woolgoolga has so much to offer. With its street full of delicious coffees and lovely vintage shops, it is the perfect stop for all who wants to experience the essence of Australian life! And when I say Australian life I mean wild endless white beaches, long hair surfers, barbecue life and chilled vibes. Trust me, Woolgoolga has all of them!
There are two beaches in town, the main beach and the back beach. The main beach is ideal for a family day and for those learning to surf. The back beach, my favourite, is perfect for a romantic escape; a long beach that is never crowded except for a few kangaroos enjoying the susnet.
Speaking of sunsets, who wouldn't like to watch the sun go down with a good pizza and a cold beer? Woolgoolga is the perfect spot to enjoy this time of day. Headlands is one of the highest points in Woopi, from here you can sit on the grass, bench or even in your car and enjoy the view of Back Beach.
Another one of my favorite places is the Sikh temple. This is not only a place of assembly for all Sikh people, but those from other religions are more then welcome to visit the temple and even try their food. Every Wednesday and Sunday, the community offers dinner made by volounteers as a main tenant of their religion is to share and provide a meal to anybody.
I didn't imagine that I would have found a place to call home on my road trip, but Woolgoolga gave that feeling. I suggest anyone passing by to spend a couple of days exploring the community falling in love like I did!
