Prokosko Jezero

The second stop was :Prokosko lake. 70 km from Sarajevo. Road to reach is really difficult, but if you are equipped with a jeep / suv, it is worth it. It is truly an earthly paradise. This place enjoys a view out of the ordinary, and the houses around the lake make you seem to live a real fairy tale! In this place, the best pitta of the Balkans is cooked, also because the cheese comes directly from their cows, who are blessed and peaceful to eat and graze on the meadows of this paradise.

Prokoško Lake is a lake of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is located in the municipality of Fojnica and it is 1670m above sea level

The lake is visited by 20,000 tourists each year.

This time it was just me, keno, and the heat (now a regular companion).

We started our climb at noon, luckily it was a very short path even if the heat made it difficult. We met a Dutch family with the dog OTTO..what to say, a travel companion who won't bore you! On the top, keno and I started talking about the plus and minus, all followed by an excellent protein bar! He takes them out of his magic box !! A snack garage!

The views of the lake from the top, are very comprehensive, and take your breath away, but when we came back .. keno had already ordered two dishes of Cevapi .. guys, you absolutely have to try them, they are amazing! The best meat in Bosnia!

After Diche we went to shoot around the lake, and we met a very nice guy, called Habib who offered us a good Shisha!

Come and visit this place! You will not regret it!! Especially in summer or winter! They call this place the “Bosnia Winter Wonderland”!!

The easiest way to reach Prokoško Lake, a law-protected natural monument, is from the direction of Fojnica, situated some 22 kilometers away. The road leading to it is mostly a gravel road.

I could write for hours about this magical place and I would still not manage to say everything. So my friendly advice for you would be to include this place, if you haven’t done yet, on your to-do, must-see, or whatever-you-call it, list.
