Stradbroke Island (Australia)

A gift from nature just off Brisbane.

Also known as Straddie from the locals, this gem is only a few kilometers from the vibrant city of Brisbane, therefore it makes it the perfect day trip. The local aborigines are excited to welcome you to Minjerribah.

Frenchman Beach. Frenchman Beach.

Depending when you're visiting the island, you can spot whales, sea turtles or dolphins, and there's no need to jump on a boat! Kangaroos are also part of the wildlife as they're heading out for food at sunrise and sunset, as well as a few species of raptors, koalas and echidnas.

As per the recommended spots, make sure not to miss the beautiful North George Walk, and take a snap at point lookout before your breath is taken away. Roos are often spotted jumping around Frenchman Beach, where the locals love to surf.

And because most of the territory in North Stradbroke is part of Naree Budjong Djara National Park, remember that driving at night is discouraged because of the wildlife which tends to cross the road. Please also keep in mind that all the wildlife shouldn't be fed, and make sure to check the beach reports' boards when approaching one, either for surfing, bathing, or even to have a quick stroll.
