Barapapa
One of the hidden gems of Paris in the summer
As summer approached this year in Paris, My fiancée and I were told about temporary pop-up bars that are only open in the warmest months of the year when tourism is at its peak. We decided to check out the one closest to us, and we weren’t disappointed.
Created with the idea of escaping the busy parisian routine, the Barapapa sits on the side of the Seine river opposite the Museum of Design and Fashion. This is an incredible spot for afternoon drinks, small private functions, or even partying into the small hours of the morning.
Sitting in a long chair with the tropical mule cocktail under the shade of the trees or around one of several large picnic tables enjoying some fresh made focaccia and fries, this place really has the feeling of a friendly gathering in somebody’s backyard. There is even pingpong and fooseball available.
The bar was created by three friends with the help of a benevolent father which also inspired the name, a french play on words about candy-floss (barbe à papa). From June through September, Olivia, Lucien, Claire and their team work hard to provide a great atmosphere with delicious food options and refreshing drinks (you can even get cocktails by the pitcher)
We loved that we could sip on our drinks enjoying the sunset with a cool breeze, while waving back to the tourists passing on the famous Bateaux Mouches, and we will definitely return again next Summer.
