Portofino - Cinque Terre series pt. 3

Day three

The famous harbor in Portofino

Although Portofino is not one of the five villages of the Cinque Terre it still was one of the most beautiful villages of the region (in my opinion). We visited it on the third day while first taking the train and then taking an overcrowded bus, which rode on an awkwardly small road so before every turn the driver had to honk, to warn the drivers on the other side of the turn, which he couldn’t see. This was necessary because the road by far wasn’t wide enough for multiple vehicles.

After we arrived there though, we went to a pizzeria there to eat something. Portofino has a small harbor which is internationally seen as one of the most beautiful ones! We walked around there for a while before getting to this higher point with an amazing view. Afterward we swam for a while.

We then spent the evening in Vernazza. A lovely town with a great beach, of sand! (most beaches there have pebbles rather than sand).
