Seeing a Shakespeare Play at The Globe
Calling all theater lovers! Shakespeare fans and history buffs alike will love seeing a show at Shakespeare’s Globe in London! This theater is located on London’s South Bank, and it was rebuilt to look just like the original Globe Theater that stood close by hundreds of years ago. Even though it’s not the original theater, it feels very authentic, and they’ve done a great job building a theater that is as close as possible to the original. You can buy tickets for shows throughout the year at a variety of price points, including 5 GBP tickets to stand in front of the stage!
The theater is circular, with seats on 3 levels along the sides and space in the center for the audience to stand! (Warning- the roof is open over the standing area, so you will get wet if it rains!)
I saw the Merry Wives on Windsor at the Globe, and while it wasn’t the best Shakespeare production I’ve ever seen, it was really cool to watch a show written hundreds of years ago in the setting it was written for. If you’re really into Shakespeare, you can also take a tour of the theater during the day!
