Exploring The Streets Of Santorini
Santorini, Greece
Santorini is well known for the beautiful white and blue villages hanging over the crystal clear sea. But behind the postcard views, there’s much more things to see around.
As you explore the narrow streets, you will stumble upon breathtaking views. Of course you can’t miss the rooftop views. Please keep in mind some of these places are private property, which means you have to ask the owners for permission before you step onto their roofs!! Santorini is as beautiful as they say, maybe even more. And although they have tons of churches with blue domes, you will never get tired of those views.
One of the things that will take your breath away is the 9km (5.6 mi) hike that connects the towns of Fira and Oia. Definitely, one of the most scenic in Santorini. The walk will take you around 3 hours to complete, depending on how many stops you make along the way. But the picturesque caldera view is worth every step! So even if you’re not an experienced hiker, you will love this experience.
Another thing you surely won’t want to miss is Santorini sunsets. These are known for being some of the most stunningly beautiful in the world. The most famous spot to watch the sunset is definitely Oia’s Byzantine Castle. This place gets really crowded, so try to arrive at least one hour before to make sure you will get a good spot!
The port of Amoudi Bay is located below the town of Oia. Not only does this place have amazing views, it’s also famous for cliff jumping.
If you plan to explore the south of the island you should add Akrotiri lighthouse to your list. The lighthouse itself is not as much of an attraction as the views from it. We highly recommend to witness the sunset from this place as well.
