Santorini Beaches
Santorini, Greece
When in Greece relaxing at the beach is always a good idea! Many people love the beaches of Santorini and find their unique sand and natural setting to be more memorable. Most of Santorini’s beaches are composed of dark volcanic sand. That’s why we loved so much the White Beach. But the beach that got our attention was the famous Red Beach. This beach is well known for its red rock volcanic appearance and red sand. Be careful though, as it is highly recommended that you wear proper shoes as the path that leads to the beach is quite rough (not a long one though). The Red Beach is also very close to the Akrotiri prehistoric ruins. The Akrotiri archaeological excavation site in Santorini features ruins from the city of Akrotiri, which was buried by a volcanic eruption in 1700 B.C. For just €5 you can explore the massive visitor-friendly site where walkways lead you around the entire perimeter. To end the day in the perfect way you must be sure you don’t miss the magical sunset. A sunset cruise will most likely be the highlight of your trip cause it will allow you to have a completely different perspective of the island. It can also be a great idea for a romantic date if you are exploring Santorini with your special person.
