DC-3 PLANE WRECKAGE Just a 10 minute drive away from Skogafoss you’ll the DC-3 Plane Wreckage site. I would definitely recommended getting there around 4-5 am to avoid all the massive crowds that come around 8am. The walk is on hard gravel and as you are walking towards the ocean and all you can see is the horizon the 3 miles walk seems like forever. It did take us around 40 minutes to walk to the plane wreckage. Whilst walking you may feel you want to turn around but don’t! The plane wreckage is something really fascinating. Make sure you have enough time there to really explore the plane and take some awesome photos. Apparently it is illegal to stand on top of the plane but there are steps on the side of the plane that you can climb up onto to stand on top of the plane be careful whilst walking on the roof as it is a really old plane and the roof is not that strong anymore. One you have seen enough of the plane you’ll be happy to find out that on your walk back it feel way less longer as you have a beautiful mountainous backdrop to look at. One thing to note is to be wary of the weather if it looks like it will rain start heading back as there is absolutely no shelter at all between your car and the plane.
