Zero 20
Home-made traditional Mexican food
Zero 20 is located in Poble Nou, a neighborhood in the South West part of Barcelona. It’s well known for being just above Montjuic mountain, the highest point in the city of Barcelona, and where there are lots of good bars and pubs.
The place is owned by two Mexican brothers who make every recipe with respect to their origins. But everything with a little twist, for example: here you can eat truly Mexican dishes like quesadillas, tortillas, or some grilled chicken, carrot cake or Oreo cake.
Here I tried three dishes. First, a healthy salad with mango, cherry tomatoes, lettuce, avocado, green pepper, and an amazing chickpea hummus served with a spoonful of ice cream. When I saw the dish, I went crazy thinking “who puts ice cream into a salad?!” But then, I realized it was hummus.
Followed up by some ‘Tacos de Vegetales’: a really colorful dish, super tasty and, of course, a little bit spicy. To finish, I had one of my favorite desserts, Carrot Cake with lemon glaze topping. At this point, I was asking to meet the chef for a hug!
So, if you really want to have a cosmopolitan Mexican experience, I really recommend Zero 20 in Poble Sec. Ah, I almost forgot, you should also come at night and try mojitos, they are an out-of-body experience.
