Nomadic Community Gardens
London’s Best Street Art
If you’re searching for street art in London, you’ll undoubtedly visit the iconic Brick Lane in Shoreditch, known for its large murals. Just off of Brick Lane, you can find the Nomadic Community Gardens, a community run park filled with paintings and sculpture. Although these gardens are a bit rough around the edges, they’re well worth a visit if you’re in east London. When I first walked into the garden, I wasn’t sure what it was or to expect, but my boyfriend and I were intrigued by the signs, so we decided to check it out. The public art and garden space is free to enter, although they do have a box for donations.
Once inside, we were amazed by all the fascinating art and the makeshift buildings made of found materials. There is so much to see in this little area- crazy murals, sculptures made of things like tires and recycled materials, and even a playground for children. There are little shacks throughout the garden listed as “bar,” but no one was there when we visited, so I’m not sure if they actually serve drinks or food in this garden.
There is an outdoor gym, a boxing ring, and a basketball hoop towards the back of the garden. It’s totally random and weird, but the art is really cool and its quirky vibe makes the Nomadic Community Gardens worth checking out.
